- NA-YGN and the Future of the Industry
- Angie Howard of NEI provided an overview
of the current state of the energy industry with a focus on
nuclear issues. It highlighted opportunities and identified
challenges for nuclear interests in the future.
Undine Shoop and Paul Wilson gave an overview
of NA-YGN and shared with the group NA-YGN's vision in the
current and future nuclear environment. They emphasized
the need for NA-YGN to exist and grow into a positive voice for
changing the way the public and industry insiders view nuclear
science and technology.
- Communication is Key to Our Success
- Maureen Brown of Nuclear Management Company emphasized the
need for effective communication in our industry and how
targeted communications can make a difference in public opinion
and perception. It addressed issues such as message
development techniques, utilizing stakeholders, and developing
communications within your company.
- Keynote Speaker - Tools for Effective Communication
- Communications expert Beverly Silverberg focused on ways to
communicate your message and target your audience. She provided
a general overview of the avenues to explore when crafting your
message that transcends gender and age and helped identify
communications goals.
- The Nuclear Regulatory Commission
- The Honorable Jeffrey Merrifield, Nuclear Regulatory
Commissioner, shared his insight on industry communications
from a regulatory standpoint. The Commissioner discussed
why good communication between companies and the NRC benefits
everyone.
- The Media & You
- NEI's Steve Kerekes discussed national media strategies such
as the different forms of advertising, letters to the editor,
internet polling, op-eds, and personal inteviews. The session
explored innovative methods to communicate and connect with
your audience.
