Energy Policy Program

The role of nuclear power in the U.S. energy mix is being revisited by the public, the media and the policy-makers, thanks in part to the energy crisis in California, and also to President Bush's new Energy Policy proposal.

We should not miss this window of opportunity to speak up about the advantages of nuclear power in every way we can. We need to be proactive, not reactive; therefore we need to take some initiative and organize events and activities that publicize this point. This needs to be a "grassroots" movement, where every local section takes whatever initiative fits its situation best.

For example:

  • Write letters and articles for newspapers and magazines;
  • Write letters to your local representatives;
  • Participate in local forums where nuclear issues are discussed;
  • Organize friendly panel discussions with local environmental groups;
  • Organize a "Lecture Series" open to the public on selected topics;
  • Organize public "shock" events on selected dates (such as Earth Day) that demonstrate the sustainability of nuclear power in a "fresh" way;
  • Let us know your ideas!!!

This project needs to be started almost from scratch. We will need a number of local coordinators, one North American coordinator, and tons of enthusiasm and fresh ideas.

Are you interested in helping out with this program? Let us know!
